The SilverKris Lounge

Singapore Changi Airport

Singapore Airline's SilverKris Lounge at Singapore's Changi

Located in Terminal 3 and known to be one of the largest lounges in the world, this lounge was everything it had lived up to be.  It is reserved for all Star Alliance passengers who are travelling in Business and First class.  Do note however, that there are separate lounges for these two classes within the lounge.

I caught an early afternoon flight heading back to Manila with Singapore airlines.  So after what felt like my own tour of the airport, I proceeded to the infamous SilverKris Lounge for a few hundred bites to eat and to see what all the Singapore Airlines fuss was all about.

The SilverKris Lounge is naturally the largest lounge at Singapore Changi, and offers something for everyone.  The buffet was generous, and certainly was enough to satisfy the pickiest of eaters.  Bowls of Laksa, Dim sum, hakaw, sio mai, popular Chinese dishes, Indian dishes, Vegetarian, Mediterannean, and Western.  I love breakfast and could eat it at any time of day.  So I was pretty lucky to still have it being served.

You’ll never run out of choices for where to sit either, neither will you run out of power outlets.  If you’re in the mood for some CNN and comfy leather seats you can sink your bum into, then chill in the main lounge area. If you’re feeling a bit stale in the old clothes, they have a Samsung machine that can “freshen your clothes” while you wait.  Lighting is dim to compliment the relaxing mood.

If you’ve got some work to do, and fancy sitting in a co-working style space, then there are high tables in the dining area where you’ll spot many a laptop.  If you’re anything like me, you’d love it because it gives you quick and easy access to the buffet for that little snackaroo in between emails.  Oh and did I mention that they have a self serve bar area too?  Plus a coffee machine that serves cappuccino, lattes, and mochas.  Not forgetting an array of alcoholic and non alcoholic beverages to choose from.  From the modest draft beers, liquor, Perrier, sodas, and fruit juices, to the more lavish champagne and wine.  They’ve got you covered.

If you’re one of the rare individuals who so happened to travel without your laptop or mobile device, then fear not as there is a business center lined with rows of Macs.

One of my favorite features of the lounge would have to be the telephone booths.  These booths give a bit of relief from the loud mouths out there, while adding a touch of charm to the lounge.

The SilverKris lounge is undoubtedly the best lounge to be in while at Singapore Changi.  Not only does it provide a relaxing haven for Business and First Class passengers.  But also makes a fantastic beginning or an end to a trip.  I look forward to returning in the near future, and to flying again with Singapore Airlines!

Have you guys been to the any of the lounges at the Changi Airport?  Which one is your favorite?
